Winner Take All Game Sunday For Berlin Little League 11s

Berlin fights all the way back to championship game after dropping first game of the crossover.

After losing its first game of the double elimination crossover round for the District 5 11-year old championship, Berlin has rolled off three straight wins and is now one game away from winning the title.

Berlin lost its opener to Southington North. The locals came back to win its next game and then had to defeat North again. They did so but faced the daunting task of beating unbeaten Farmington twice.

The first one is down after Berlin beat Farmington 7-6 Saturday.

Halkias pitched into the sixth inning before needing relief help from Jeff Kuzoian, who closed out the game. Halkias also hit a two-run home run for the winners.

Berlin led 6-3 going into the top of the sixth inning but came back to score three runs and tie the game at 6-6.

Tommy Hyjek led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double and then scored the game winner on an RBI single by Tyler Lappe.

"I said before this is the best team I've ever coached and now we have a chance to win the district with one win," Tubbs said. "If they show up to play they are going to be tough to beat and this was a nother big confidence boosting win for us."
