Canton Boys Open Basketball Tournament With Bye

CANTON, CT — Brackets for the CIAC boys basketball tournaments were released Wednesday morning, and after a few extra days of practice, Canton High School will be opening competition in front of its home crowd.

The Warriors (17-3) are the No. 2 seed in Division V, and will host a second-round game against the Somers-Lyman Memorial winner March 7 at 7 p.m.

Other first-round matchups in Division V for teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties include:

• No. 24 Gilbert (8-12) at No. 9 Windsor Locks (14-6)
• No. 21 Capital Prep (8-12) at No. 12 Whitney Tech (11-9)
• No. 20 Derby (8-12) at No. 13 East Windsor (11-9)
• No. 18 Lyman Memorial (9-11) at No. 15 Somers (10-10)
• No. 17 HMTCA (9-11) at No. 16 Putnam (10-10)
