Canton Girls to Open Class S Basketball Tournament at Home

CANTON, CT — The road to Mohegan Sun starts Monday and Tuesday, as Canton High School and 129 other high school girls basketball teams begin their quests for state championships in the CIAC tournaments.

An impressive 16-4 regular season record gave two-time defending champion Canton the No. 2 seed and an opening round home game in the Class S tournament. The Warriors will host No. 31 Trinity Catholic (8-12) Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Other first-round Class S matchups involving teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties are:

• No. 29 St. Bernard (8-12) at No. 4 East Windsor (15-5)
• No. 26 Aerospace (9-11) at No. 7 Somers (15-5)
• No. 23 Windham Tech (10-10) at No. 10 SMSA (14-6)
• No. 21 Windham (10-10) at No. 12 Cheney Tech (14-6)
• No. 18 Bloomfield (11-9) at No. 15 Gilbert (12-8)
• No. 20 Weaver (10-10) at No. 13 Housatonic Regional (13-7)
• No. 25 East Granby (9-11) at No. 8 Bolton (14-6)
• No. 30 Windsor Locks (8-12) at No. 3 Putnam (16-4)
