Canton Has Champion, Placewinners at Indoor Track Championships
The CIAC indoor track and field championships were conducted Thursday through Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Led by an event champion and eight other placewinners, Canton High School turned in excellent team showings in the CIAC Class S indoor track and field championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
Competing in Class S, the Warrior boys placed sixth, while the girls finished eighth.
Maximillian Sparks captured the boys 1600 meters with a time of 4:31.39. Other Warriors finishing in the top 6 were:

Boys
- 2nd - Peter Fuller, high jump
- 3rd - 4 x 800 relay
- 6th - Maximillian Sparks, 3200 meters
Girls

- 2nd - Julia Caputo, 3200 meters
- 4th - Chelsea Mitchell, 55 meters; 4 x 800 relay
- 5th - Chelsea Mitchell, long jump
- 6th - Chelsea Mitchell, 300 meters
The championships were held Thursday through Saturday: Class L on Thursday, Class M on Friday and Classes LL and S on Saturday. Click the class headers for complete results.
The State Open will also take place at the Floyd Little Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.
