Canton Graduates First Community Emergency Response Team

Recently 18 students became the first members of Canton's first Community Emergency Response Team.

The people, 16 of them Canton residents, completed a 24-hour training class over 8 weeks. They were taught a variety of topics related to emergency preparedness and response including fire extinguisher training, disaster psychology and terrorism.

They also learned about light search and rescue techniques and basic disaster medical response. CERT members will be available during major incidents to supplement emergency responders.
