Canton Obituary: Arthur Bedard, 54

Condolences to his family and friends.

Arthur “Art” Bedard died after a short illness on February 26, 2018 in Noank at the age of 54.

Born on March 6, 1963 in Hartford, Art was the son of the late Robert and Patricia (Lussier) Bedard. He graduated from George J. Penney High School in East Hartford in 1981, and from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked many years for Hamilton Standard and independently as a software consultant, while living much of his adult life in Collinsville.

Art was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished sailor. He enjoyed sharing his love of cycling, hiking, mountains and hot springs with his family and friends. He completed the Boston Marathon, the Iron Man Triathlon and many other adventure races. This past fall he accomplished a long held goal to sail his boat from Noank to North Carolina.

Art is survived by his daughter, Jeanne and her mother, Amanda Bedard of Canton; his brother, Philip (Diane) of Hopedale, MA; his sisters, Therese Roesch of South Glastonbury and Mary Bedard of Manchester and four nephews, Chuck and Tim Roesch, and Patrick and Matthew Bedard.

Calling hours will be on Sunday (March 4) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Art’s life.
