Connecticut Dance Academy Expands, Moves

The academy recently completed a move to a much larger studio space.

From CT Dance Academy: Just three short years after Connecticut Dance Academy first opened its doors, the studio recently completed a large expansion and moved into an impressive new space at 5 Cheryl Drive in Canton in February. The new location succeeds their previous one across the street at 12 Cheryl Drive and nearly doubles their space to a 5,000 square foot facility featuring three large dance studios, a grandiose lobby, locker area for students, as well as many other upgrades and features.

When Owner and Artistic Director Diana Perkins first opened the studio in 2015, she was concerned the original studio was too large for the tens of dancers enrolled. Three years later and boasting hundreds of students, Connecticut Dance Academy has quickly become a premier dance studio in the Farmington Valley with students traveling from across the state to participate in classes. A Hartt School graduate and past professional dancer, Diana credits the success of the studio to her highly-qualified instructors as well as the welcoming, fun, fair, and family atmosphere at the studio that caters to students of all ages and abilities. “I’m proud to finally be able to match our infrastructure with the incredible talent of our dancers and instructors and to have had the opportunity to design a new studio from scratch that meets the growing needs of our company. We listened to a lot of feedback from our dance families and dancers and really feel we delivered on all their requests from 16 foot ceilings in our acro room, professionally sprung dance flooring in all the studios to prevent injuries, a lobby five times the size of our previous one, 10 foot viewing windows into each studio for parents to watch their dancers’ progress, a large locker area, as well as details all the way down to free wifi and the water bottle filler fountains students have in their schools”. A victim of her own success, the previous studio space was busting at its seams and she looks forward to continuing to grow the studio and to be able to expand the classes offered this coming fall.

Connecticut Dance Academy is located on the Avon/Simsbury line of Canton off Route 44 and offers over fifty classes per week Monday through Saturday starting at age two including recreational classes, a Performance Company that performs at local community events, as well as a Competition Team that boasted two National Title winners in 2018. Connecticut Dance Academy will be offering Summer Dance Camps in July and August and prospective students are welcome to stop in to see the new studio and try a free dance class at any time. The community is also welcome to attend one of their three dance recitals held on Saturday, May 18th at Canton High School. More information about the studio can be found on their Facebook and Instagram pages or at www.ctdanceacademy.com.
