Deer Rescued from Frozen Canton Pond

The deer had become stuck on the ice until police and fire personnel came to make the save.

CANTON, CT — Rescue personnel in Canton have saved a deer that had become stranded on a frozen pond Tuesday.

Police and fire department members rescued the deer from an iced pond behind 121 Dowd Ave.

Sgt. Mark Penney was able to move the deer from the ice to the edge of the frozen pond, then the Canton Fire Department was able to move the deer up onto land, police said.

An officer from Department of Energy and Environmental Protection arrived a short time later and relocated the deer, according to police.
