3 Sent To Hospital After Canton Hazmat Incident

CANTON, CT — The Canton Transfer Station is closed due to a hazardous materials incident Tuesday morning.

A Hazmat team is on scene as are firefighters from New Hartford, Burlington and Avon, according to the Canton Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

Three employees were taken to the hospital after inhaling a mixture of motor oil and acid that was found in a bulk waste dumpster, according to NBC Connecticut. They were taken as a precaution.
