Residents Can View Past, Future Road Projects on Canton's Web Site

Officials have added details about past and current road projects to the town web site.

Under the Public Works Department portion of the site, residents can find a Pavement Management section that details projects completed over the past few years as well as those due for completion this year.

The charts lists the portion of roadway, techniques used and more.

There’s even a pavement management index for those who want to see how the road ties in to the Pavement Management Study the town commissioned in 2010.

From the web page, residents can also look up definitions for some common road work techniques.

Town officials said it’s a great tool to showcase how roadwork or pavement management funds are being used, especially in light of the $6 million in improvements residents voted to bond earlier this year.

“I think people invested a lot of money in pavement management and they have a right to see where their dollars are going,” Chief administrative Officer Robert Skinner said.

Officials did caution that during this busy season the site would likely be updated approximately once a month. Construction timelines are also subject to change due to weather or other factors, officials said.
