CANTON – State Representative Leslee Hill (R-Canton) announced on Thursday that she will be running for a second term for State Representative of the 17th Assembly District, which is made up of the towns of Canton and Avon. Rep. Hill was first elected to the seat in November of 2018.
“I look forward to continuing my service to the two communities of my district, and bringing your voice to Hartford,” said Hill. “I have proposed and shepherded several new laws through the course of my first term. My proposed bills aimed at securing healthy learning environments for students, providing greater access to life-improving services for those with disabilities, and supporting our first responders were all successfully passed into new laws. This session, I am pursuing bills designed to bring common sense fiscal policy and transparency to state government to get Connecticut back on track and make it a more affordable place to live and run a business.”

Hill also played an integral role in preserving school district independence for Canton and Avon. She participated in several local discussions about this issue and advocated on behalf of the parents and students who expressed concern with some of the proposed plans that would have forced our local schools into regional districts.
Hill makes it a priority to communicate with constituents of the 17th Assembly District. She consistently holds sessions allowing residents to make comments or pose questions directly to her about the actions of the state government. In Hartford, Hill serves on the Education, Judiciary, and Finance Committees.
