Bicyclist Dies After Hit-And-Run Accident On Christmas Eve
The accident occurred in Westbrook and the driver left the scene, State Police said. A person of interest has been identified, police said.

WESTBROOK, CT — Sad news to share tonight as bicyclist, John W. Ingalls, 36, of Ivoryton, who was struck a by a hit-and run driver on Christmas Eve, has died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the accident.
State Police said, "The victim of the Westbrook evading hit and run that occurred on Christmas Eve has died. We would like to take this time to express our deepest sympathies to the family at this time. We would also like to thank everyone who helped to identify a person of interest. At this time, the identity of the person of interest will not be released."
Troop F anticipates an arrest warrant will applied for in the near future. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Troop F at 860-399-2100.

WESTBROOK, CT — A bicyclist, John W. Ingalls, 36, of Ivoryton, was struck a by a hit-and run driver on Christmas Eve and suffered life-threatening injuries, State Police said. At 4:50 p.m. Troop F received a call concerning an injured man laying on Spencer Plains Road.
Ingalls had been riding a bicycle and had been struck by a vehicle, which left the scene, State Police said.

"Based on the evidence located at the scene, it appears that the vehicle was traveling Westbound on Spencer Plains Road and for an unknown reason struck the bicycle from the rear causing the operator to be thrown from the bicycle," State Police said.
The evading vehicle is described as a gray or silver 2007-09 Acura MDX.
