Clinton Issues Warning Ahead Of Tropical Storm

The town is providing reminders on how people can prepare for the storm.

CLINTON, CT — The Clinton Police Department released the following statement on its Facebook page as Tropical Storm Elsa approaches:

"As Elsa moves up the Eastern Seaboard, the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Southeastern Coastal Connecticut. Peak winds of 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 30 MPH are currently forecasted. Please secure trash cans, charcoal grills, patio furniture, kayaks, etc. The forecast is for heavy rain Friday. Localized flooding is possible. As with any storm there is the possibility of downed trees, downed live power lines and road closures. If you see a downed wire presume it is live, do not approach and call 911. If you encounter a flooded roadway presume it is not passable and notify the police department. If you encounter a road closed sign, do not attempt to pass. As always, call 911 to report any emergency.
