Car Thief Caught In Old Saybrook: Police
Old Saybrook Police say a resident was warming up her car in the driveway early Tuesday morning and it was gone when she went back outside.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — A Hamden resident was caught stealing a car in Old Saybrook early Tuesday morning, according to police. Old Saybrook Police said a woman started her vehicle to “warm it up” in her driveway and when she returned “it was gone.”
“After the owner of the stolen vehicle contacted the police department, the midnight shift dispatcher quickly advised patrol officers of the theft,” police said. “The stolen vehicle was located, stopped, and the vehicle thief (from Hamden) was placed under arrest.”
Police said the suspect, an adult male whose name wasn’t immediately released, will be charged with first-degree larceny and possession of a crack pipe. Additional charges are possible, according to police.

The incident, which is still being investigated, occurred in the Chalker Beach Section of Old Saybrook, according to police.
