Clinton Budget Referendum 2019 Results

Residents went to the polls for a referendum vote on the 2019-2020 budget on Wednesday.

CLINTON, CT — In a change from recent history, the town and education budgets and bonding authorization all passed in Clinton’s first referendum vote on Wednesday. Last year’s town budget was voted down three times before finally passing on the fourth try in a town referendum.

The town budget was approved with 1,502 voting in favor while 1,381 voted against it, town officials announced on Wednesday night. The Board of Education budget was approved with 1,471 votes in favor with 1,417 votes against it.

The bonding authorization received 1,689 votes in favor and 1,113 against it.

The mill rate has been set at 31.25, a .71-percent increase over last year, according to officials.

There were 2,274 total ballots cast in the referendum with 111 absentee ballots and six hand counts.
