Clinton Resident Named Captain For SCSU Volleyball Team
Volleyball coach Lisa Barbaro has announced the team captains for the upcoming 2018 season.

CLINTON, CT — Clinton’s Jennifer Dawson will serve as a team captain for the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team this season, coach Lisa Barbaro announced Wednesday. Dawson, a redshirt junior, was named a captain along with seniors Leanna Jadus (Long Beach, Calif.) and Alyssa Gage (Beverly Hills, Fla.). The Owls are coming off a 2017 campaign in which they won 24 games and recorded their first-ever NCAA Tournament win and NCAA berth in school history.
Jadus will serve as a team captain for the second straight year. She enjoyed a breakout junior season in which she was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, ECAC Player of the Year and NE10 Player of the Year. Jadus was also an All-Region, All-ECAC and All-NE10 selection and was named to both the NE10 All-Tournament Team and the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.
Gage made an immediate impact in her first season with the Owls last fall. She earned All-Region, All-ECAC and All-NE10 honors after setting a new SCSU single-season record for hitting percentage. Gage was also named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.
