On June 15th, Paddleworks CT will be celebrating their first National SUP Day presented by NEXT Swimwear in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Pipeline to a Cure Program. Stop by the Clinton business on June 15th to expericence SUP first hand with a demo day.
Clinton's Paddleworks will have professionals from Riveria, Jimmy Lewis, GoPro, and West Marine to show visitors. You can demo their products and they'll teach you about the art of SUPing. All are welcome to attend and the event is free!
Clinton joins seven other cities and town in celebrating National SUP Day:Â Chicago; Austin; San Diego; Newport Beach, CA; Palm Beach, FL; Brick, NJ; and Grand Haven, MI.
"There were originally 5 locations partcipating and then we were approached by others including Clinton ," Margarita Gomez, a Public Relations Coordinator for the event and NEXT Swimwear. "We work with local Cystic Fibrosis Chapters to raise awareness by connecting them to local businesses who are interested in holding an event for the SUP Day."
Several locations hold events on the day that are private for children who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis and their families.
"The partnership between NEXT Swimwear and Cystic Fibrosis got started because of the connection between those who have Cystic Fibrosis and saltwater, which actually helps them breathe," explained Gomez.
The day is a way to celebrate the ever growing sport of stand up paddle boarding and raise awareness of the health benefits the sport provides young people who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis.
"Be ready to be in the water," said Gomez. "So, whatever is comfortable for you. And bring a towel too. Boards and paddles there for you to try out. This is a great event to come out and try out this cool sport.
You can sign up for the Clinton event on the National SUP Day website to give the host a heads up on attendance.
