Democrats Name Jason Adler as House Candidate

District 35 Convention Held in Clinton May 16

CLINTON---Accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination, candidate Jason Adler of Clinton promised to “Bring Blue Back” to the Connecticut House District 35 at Wednesday night’s convention. Adler, a Connecticut native, was unanimously endorsed as the party’s candidate representing Clinton, Killingworth and the North side of Westbrook to the House of Representatives, at the Convention held May 16 in Clinton.

A school counselor in the Waterford Public Schools, Adler says he became politically energized by the 2016 presidential election.

Watching the Connecticut General Assembly during the current session, Adler says, “We need to put aside the blame game of who got us into this mess and focus on the solutions that will get us out.” He recognizes that tough choices need to be made to bring Connecticut’s fiscal crisis under control.

“These decisions need to be made by a new crop of legislators--ones not beholden to reelection concerns or special interests,” he said.

Serving as a fierce advocate for his students over the past 16 years, Adler now wants to promote the interests of the 35th District in Hartford. He believes his mediation skills will help bring reasonable members of each party together to form a common sense coalition--one whose only aim is to benefit the citizenry of Connecticut.

The Convention was elected unanimously by 7 delegates from Clinton; 4 from Killingworth and 2 from Westbrook. John Olsen of Clinton served as temporary chair until Clinton DTC Chair Andrea Reu was elected chair.

Bethany Knight is the Adler campaign chair; Ellen Dahlgren, the treasurer. Both women and Adler are members of the Clinton Democratic Town Committee. Another DTC member, Jonathon Wolfer, is heading up the campaign’s social media presence.

The District 35 House seat has historically been held by Democrats. Incumbent Jesse MacLachlan (R-Westbrook) who has held the seat for two terms, has not announced his intentions.
