Illegal Burning in Clinton Prompts Warning From Fire Chief
The forest fire danger level remains high until further notice.

Clinton Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Brian Manware is reminding residents that the forest fire danger level remains high.
"Over the past several days the CVFD has responded to numerous campfires and illegal outside fires," Manware said via Facebook. "Please keep all recreational fires contained. We also discourage any type of outside fire during these weather conditions."
A red flag warning was issued by the National Weather Service until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.
"A red flag warning is a warning to the firefighting community that if there is a fire, the weather conditions can be expected to cause erratic fire behavior," the Clinton Fire Department said via Facebook. "Red flag warnings are not a fire danger rating and they are not synonymous with high, very high or extreme fire danger. Red flag warnings are issued when winds will be sustained or there will be frequent gusts above a certain threshold (normally 25 mph)."
Relative humidity needs to be below 30-percent and precipitation for the previous five days has to have been less than 1/4-inch, firefighters said.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact the fire marshal's office at 860-669-1094.
