Killingworth Man Arrested In Juvenile Sexual Assault Case: PD

Police have arrested man accused of sexually abusing a girl over a period of five years.

CLINTON, CT — A Killingworth man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor in his care numerous times over a five-year period, according to state police. Steven Azzaro, of 267 Route 81, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, and risk of injury to a child.

He was released on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown Superior Court Sept. 21.

According to court documents, State Police Troop F in Westbrook began investigating the allegations of abuse in March. The victim was identified as a 17-year-old female who said she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by Azzaro at his Killingworth residence beginning in fall 2007 and continuing to 2012.

The victim said that Azzaro's wife and her older brother were also there when the abuse occurred, but they were in other areas of the home and "had no idea what was happening," according to court documents.

Azzaro denied the allegations in an interview with police and said that the victim "does not remember things accurately at all," according to court documents.
