DeMaio said investigators obtained a search warrant for the remains of the structure and Brandon Wyzykowski was identified as the suspect.

The investigation found that Wyzykowski, a resident of the facility, was responsible for setting the fire, DeMaio said.

Wyzykowski was arrested and charged with first-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief. He was taken to Middletown Superior Court for arraignment, according to DeMaio.

Clinton firefighters received mutual aid from Madison Hose Company, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Department and Old Saybrook Volunteer Fire Department, according to officials.

Clinton units remained at the scene to keep water on hot spots and overhaul, according to a post on the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Officials said the “all clear” was given shortly after 5 a.m.
