Obituary: Christine Zito Horne, 54, of Westbrook
Christine had been employed for many years in Social Services where she was committed to helping others in our communities.

Christine Zito Horne, 54, of Westbrook, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, after a brave and courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease. She passed peacefully while surrounded by her husband and loving family. Christine was born on Feb. 9, 1965 in New London.
Christine wed Jack Z. Horne on April 23rd, 1999 at Captain Stannard House in Westbrook. They met as college students at UCONN and were married for over 20 years. Christine leaves 2 beautiful daughters, Juliana and Lauren both of Westbrook. Her family members also include her sister, Elisa Zito Parks and her husband Joe Parks of Lake Elsinore, CA., their sons Chase and Morgan Parks of California; her younger sister Jennifer Zito and her daughters Emma and Zoe of Waterford, and her father James Zito and his fiancé Carol Flanagan of New London. Christine was particularly adored by her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Ronnie Nixon of Waterford, and Great Aunt Marie O’Neil (lovingly known as Sisi). Christine was predeceased by her mother Barbara Baine Silva Zito.

Christine graduated from Waterford High School in 1983 and UCONN in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Social Work also from UCONN. Christine had been employed for many years in Social Services where she was committed to helping others in our communities. Christine was an avid reader, had a passion for healthy living, outdoor activities and travel.
The family would like to give their heartful thanks to Christine’s in-home caregivers: Ginger, Cyndi, Danette and Jodi. These individuals became family to all those who loved Christine. They would also like to acknowledge the staff of Gladeview Healthcare for making Christine’s final weeks comfortable.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home in Clinton. A service will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Westbrook Congregational Church in Westbrook.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA-CT 101 Deer Run Drive, Colchester, CT 06415).
