Pedestrian Struck, Killed On I-95 Identified: UPDATE

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning on I-95.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — A Killingworth man was struck and killed by a vehicle on I-95 In Old Saybrook early Tuesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police. At about 12:30 a.m. on May 14, state troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle between Exits 70 and 69 on I-95 South in Old Saybrook.

Police say the driver was traveling southbound on I-95 in the right center lane of four when he saw a pedestrian directly in front of him in the roadway. The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck him, according to police.

The pedestrian has been identified as Richard Dupre Jr., 51, of Killingworth. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The state DOT and Old Lyme Fire Department responded to the scene for assistance with traffic control and lane closures.

The accident remains under investigation, according to police.
