Route for Clinton's Memorial Day Parade 2016
Police are reminding residents of the parade route and when the Memorial Day ceremony will take place.
The Clinton CT Police Department is reminding residents and guests that the 2016 Memorial Day parade is taking place on Monday, May 30. They posted the following information on Facebook:
The parade route:
- Begin at Post Office Square (Route 1/Commerce Street)
- Travel east along Route 1 to the Liberty Street Green
- There will be a short ceremony at the Liberty Street Green
- The parade will resume traveling west on Route 1 to the Town Hall
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Route 1 will be closed to all vehicular traffic from Commerce Street to Liberty Street. No vehicular traffic will be allowed between those two locations for the duration of the parade and ceremony.
"Please plan to use alternate routes during that time," police said. "As we celebrate Monday, let's remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. It is to honor and remember those who died defending our country’s freedom, and also an opportunity to thank those who have served in our armed forces protecting our nation. The sacrifices of our service men and women and their families are greatly appreciated by our Town."
