Suspect Sought In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Westbrook: State Police

Police are searching for a man in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist on Christmas Eve.

WESTBROOK, CT — Police are asking for help with finding Jose “Fernando” Meraz-Balico in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist on Christmas Eve.

John Ingalls, 36, was killed in the accident that occurred around 4:50 p.m. on Dec. 24 in Westbrook, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Meraz-Balico on charges of second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

Meraz-Balico, 35, has ties to both Westbrook and Deep River but also could be traveling to New York or the Carolinas, according to police.

Police also said that Meraz- Balico could have fled the country to Honduras.
