Tracy Standish Brings Her Stain Glass-Abstracts to Clinton
Colorful Art Show Runs Thru July 28 at Henry C. Hull Library
Connecticut painter Tracy Standish has brought her beautiful wares to Clinton this summer.
Nearly 30 of her extraordinary acrylic paintings grace two floors of the Henry Carter Hull Library, Route 81 next to Clinton Crossings.
The winner of Best in Show at the Clinton Tree Committee Art Show last fall, Tracy Standish chose to hold her first solo exhibit in the town that already loves her work. Inspired greatly by the natural world, she brings her own take to the lowly turkey, ant and turtle. Bejeweled, bedecked and captivating, her stained glass-like paintings appeal to children and adults alike.

A public reception opened the show July 5, with several paintings marked sold at the end of the evening. Pictured here is Tracy, center, flanked by fans. Also shown here is her whimsical work called WARM, which was purchased. "I need more wall space in my cottage," said one buyer. "I love so many of these pieces."
One of the favorites of the library's front desk staff is a piece called, "I Don't Know What Mermaid Was Thinking but She Found the VHS in the Sea." "Bartender" is a real crowd pleaser....check out his buggy eyes!

Tracy took a big step in May, leaving her job as Director of Content Marketing with a reputable digital marketing firm in Madison to spend her days in her own studio, creating on canvas. Self trained except for an art class in high school, it all began with doodling thick black lines with a Sharpie. "In college, I started adding color."
Beyond relying on her rich imagination (many of her pieces are clearly autobiographical) Tracy does commission work and custom orders. "People can choose the size and type they want, as well as how the work will be matted and framed," she said. "I will work with a photo, or just a subject and color preferences."
Tracy Standish grew up in Clinton, and now is a full time artist living in North Branford. To see more of her work, go to www.tracystandish.com. She can also be found at facebook.com/tracystandishart/
