
CLINTON---Volunteers, paid employees and elected officials in Clinton have developed a budget for the operation of schools and town government from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 that will be discussed at the annual public budget hearing Wednesday, May 2, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Green Room, Town Hall.
The budget vote will be May 9 at Town Hall.
A Clinton home assessed at $250,000 a year would see a raise of $290 a year in property taxes, or $3.45 a day, with the passage of this budget.

The Budget was then reviewed by the Board of Selectman and finalized by the Board of Finance. All budgets were subject to reduction. Costs were eliminated and cuts were made.
Fixed costs represent 80 percent of Clinton’s costs; established by contract, debt or mandates. These are expenses the town cannot alter.

Of every tax dollar collected, about 66 cents goes to run our schools, and around 33 cents pays for all town services.
The proposed total budget of $54 million is 4.3 percent more than last year, an increase in the mill rate from 29.91 to 31.067.
