14-Year-Old Bicyclist Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash In Darien: PD
Police are searching for the person who struck the teen and then drove off.
DARIEN, CT — A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized Thursday morning after a hit-and-run crash on Old Kings Highway South in Darien that occurred while he was riding on his bicycle, according to police.
The boy, who was transported to Stamford Hospital following the 8:50 a.m. crash, "suffered a broken bone and numerous abrasions."
The driver of the vehicle never stopped after hitting the youth, stated Darien Police Det. James Palmieri.

"As the juvenile traveled on Old Kings Highway South towards Locust Hill Road, he crossed from the West side of the street to the East side as he approached the intersection of Locust Hill Road," said Palmieri. "At the same time, a vehicle traveling West on Locust Hill Road turned right onto Old Kings Highway South. As it negotiated the turn onto Old Kings Highway South, the vehicle struck the rear tire of the juvenile’s bicycle, knocking him to the ground. The vehicle did not stop,
continuing North on Old Kings Highway South."
Palmieri said the vehicle was described as a dark colored sedan/hatchback, possibly a BMW, but no other information was available.
