2 Norwalk Teens Charged In Attempted Car Theft: Darien Police

One of the suspects was found with items stolen from another vehicle in town.

DARIEN, CT — A pair of 17-year-olds recently were arrested on charges of criminal attempt at first degree larceny after Darien police said the two tried to steal a car.

The attempted theft occurred just before 3 a.m. on June 3 at a home on Littlebrook Road in Darien. Officers were called to the home on a report of "two suspicious males" in the area.

"The males had been seen on a security camera running up the driveway of that residence near a parked vehicle," said Darien police in a statement. "Officers arrived on scene and made contact with two males seen walking in the area. When questioned in regards to their presence and destination, the juveniles gave conflicting stories. The juveniles eventually admitted to attempting to steal a car to drive home."

Both were taken into custody, and while searching one of them, officers found two pair of luxury sunglasses that had been reported as stolen out of another vehicle on Raymond Street.

In that theft, an unlocked 2019 Land Rover was broken into and a pair of $700 Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, and a pair of $700 Maui Jim sunglasses were stolen.

The identities of the two suspects, both Norwalk residents, were not disclosed due to their ages. Both were released to their parents on written promises to appear in Stamford Juvenile Court at a later date.
