2017 What's Open / What's Closed Thanksgiving Around Darien

Happy Thanksgiving! With a growing number of establishments deciding to open on Thanksgiving, it can be a little confusing as to what to expect on Turkey Day. Below is a sampling of what's opened and what's closed in and around your Connecticut community:

• Local, state and federal government offices will be closed
• Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed
• All public and private schools are closed
• Garbage and recycling collection will not be picked up (check with your private refuse collector), and most local transfer stations will be closed (again, check with your municipality)
• U.S. Post offices will be closed
• Libraries will be closed

• Most banks will be closed (but they have the option of staying open or closed in Connecticut)
• Some attractions, such as movie theaters, will be open (check with your local cinema or attraction)
