Connecticut Weather: 2 Upcoming Storms In The Forecast

It's going to be an active weather pattern with stormy weather on the way for Super Bowl Sunday and another storm midweek.

Connecticut's looking at two upcoming storms over the next few days beginning on Super Bowl Sunday. Sunday's storm now appears to feature periods of heavy rain, no snow, for the entire state, but a mid-week storm could bring snow, ice and then more rain to the state.

More than 100 million people across the country will watch the Super Bowl and many Connecticut residents will travel to parties Sunday to enjoy the big game. The heaviest of the rain is expected during the football game and it will continue overnight.

said, "Expect a washout for your Superbowl Party (but no snow!). This storm will be a SOAKER. 1 to 2 inches of rain possible."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist said the "best chance of steady rain is during the game." NBC Connecticut Meteorologist also said, "Our next storm will start right around the time of your (Super Bowl) parties."

The next chance for school delays/closings looks like Wednesday morning. Sweeney said Wednesday's weather "*could* feature a snow to mix to rain type of a system. Lots of changes over the next few days." Campagna added, "right now it looks like a messy Wednesday morning commute before any rain arrives."

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has already been issued for Hartford and Tolland counties for the chance of snow Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

“A wintry mess is likely to bring hazardous travel from the central Plains through the Ohio Valley into the Northeast Tuesday and Wednesday,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Jacob Sojda.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 28. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Sunday: Rain, mainly after 3pm. High near 43. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. South wind 7 to 9 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Rain before midnight, then a chance of showers between midnight and 4am. Low around 30. Southeast wind 5 to 13 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph.

Monday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 19. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Cloudy, with a high near 36.

Tuesday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday: Snow likely before 9am, then rain and snow likely between 9am and noon, then rain likely after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday:Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.

Tuesday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday: Snow before 2pm, then rain and snow. High near 38. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
