DARIEN, CT — A black bear was spotted in Darien on Wednesday, but police do not believe the animal is a threat.
The bear, which authorities said appeared to be young and weighing about 100 pounds, was seen in the Tokeneke section of town.
"Per Animal Control, it is not considered a threat to people or animals however to avoid attraction, bird feeders and garbage cans should be temporarily garaged," police said.

Wednesday's bear sighting is the second in the general area in the past two days. On Tuesday, Stamford police said a bear was spotted in North Stamford near Dannell Drive and Vine Road.
A young black bear weighing approx. 100lbs has been observed in the Tokeneke area of Darien today. Per Animal Control, it is not considered a threat to people or animals however to avoid attraction, bird feeders and garbage cans should be temporarily garaged.
