Dance Inpired Artist Debuts Work at Met Opera Shop Trunk Show
Saturday, June 1 (2-8pm) at the Met at Lincoln Center
Dancer Art ™ by Ilana Appleby will “premiere” at the Met Opera Shop Trunk Show on Saturday, June 1st from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Center NYC. The Dancer Art ™ “debut” will feature the sale of elegant notecards, framed works, jewelry, and more, all based on a selection from several hundred of her original Pen & Ink drawings.
The work of award-winning multi-media artist Ilana Appleby is on display currently through Friday, June 7th in People's United Bank at Goodwives Shopping Plaza, Darien CT.
Appleby’s most recent work was inspired and drawn during ballet performances, rehearsals, and in-studio visits of the American Ballet Theatre and the Connecticut Ballet, mostly in the dark, with her attention focused on the dancers, not on the sketchpad. Influenced by the muses of Degas, Hirschfeld, and Haring, Appleby’s ballet-inspired work has been exhibited in several galleries and was awarded 1st Prize in Drawing. Appleby is an artist member of MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Graphic Arts Guild, the Rowayton Arts Center, and the Stamford Art Association, and a member of the Art Students League.

The Met Opera Shop Trunk Show of Dancer Art ™ coincides with matinee and evening performances at Lincoln Center of the "Twyla Tharp Trio" by the American Ballet Theatre, and "Midsummer Night's Dream" by the New York City Ballet to encourage you to enjoy the celebratory and expansive nature of Lincoln Center, an iconic haven of all of the performing arts, and now too, the visual arts. To quote artist Appleby, "Even the fountain 'dances.' Nourish your senses. Surrender and immerse yourself. You will come out happy."
