'Dangerous Roadways' Reported In Darien Thursday: PD

"The Darien Police Department has added additional staff in anticipation of deteriorating weather."

DARIEN, CT — From the Darien Police Department: The Darien Police Department wishes to remind people that we are currently under a Winter Storm Warning as issued by the National Weather Service.

The NWS reports that we could see bands of snow that put 1-2” per hour on the ground. In addition, temperatures will be extremely cold and gusting winds will make white-out conditions on the road. This combination of weather elements will make being outside a safety risk.

The Darien Police Department has added additional staff in anticipation of deteriorating weather.

Additionally, Darien Town Hall is closed on Thursday, according to First Selectman Jayme Stevenson.

Officers on patrol are reporting very dangerous conditions on local roadways. We are advising residents to stay off roads unless absolutely necessary. DPW crews are currently working steadily to keep up with the heavy snowfall, and will continue to do so for the duration of the storm. Please ensure that no vehicles are parked on roadways, as this allows snow removal to be more effective.
