CT Weather: Dangerous Heat This Weekend
The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of Connecticut due to extreme heat.

HARTFORD, CT — Parts of Connecticut could see the mercury reach nearly 100 degrees this weekend and it looks like the heat will be here to stick around well into next week.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties.
“Heat and humidity will build across the region,” the NWS said in its outlook. “There is the risk across interior portions of Southern New England of reaching heat advisory criteria with heat indices and/or temperatures at or above 95 degrees for two or more consecutive days. A heat wave is likely with 3 or more consecutive days of at or above 90 degree temperatures.”

The NWS predicts that northern Connecticut will stay above highs of 90 degrees until at least Thursday.
Southern Connecticut will be slightly cooler, but temperatures will push to a high of 93 degrees on Sunday and stay in the high 80s through Thursday for Fairfield and New Haven counties. New London County will see temperatures a few degrees cooler on average.

Gov. Dannel Malloy reminded residents that they can call 211 to find local cooling centers in their towns to beat the heat.
“Excessively high temperatures can be dangerous for peoples’ health, especially among the elderly, young children, and those who work outdoors,” Malloy said. “Drink lots of water, stay in the shade, and please keep an eye on those who are at greatest risk.”
The hot temperatures over the next week can lead to heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
The symptoms of heat stroke include a body temperature at 103 degrees or higher, a fast strong pulse, headache, confusion and loss of consciousness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and requires immediate treatment.
Heat exhaustion can lead to heavy sweating, passing out, headache, muscle cramps and vomiting. People need medical help if they are vomiting, symptoms get worse or symptoms last longer than one hour.
