Press release from Prudence Home and Design:
Sept. 18, 2020
Prudence Bailey, designer and owner of Prudence Home and Design based in Darien, CT is expanding her interior business both in scope of services as well as her team. After Bailey left a successful career in corporate complex sales, she started styling homes for clients and friends. This led to queries for interior design projects which now, in a short period of time, has become a full-service interior design practice with ground up construction and renovations. Her clients are primarily in the tri-state area with concentration in Fairfield County. She attributes this influx of new clientele to a strong point of view and a streamlined design process.

“My years in sales has given me a strong foundation of the client relationship. I provide livable, approachable, stylish designs in a timely manner. We love what we do and therefore make the it a pleasurable experience,” says Bailey.
During this time of COVID and the period of working from home, Prudence and her team have utilized the time to reflect and examine the ways to extend their reach and client base. “We developed the Dear Prudence Design Dilemma series on IG on Fridays and that has strengthened the brand name and allowed us to have a pulse on what consumers needs are. We also launched an e-consultation practice during sheltering in place which are 30-minute Zoom meetings to help people improve their homes with actionable advice. We still have people signing up,” states Bailey.

In order for the business to really be able to go to the next level, Bailey’s top priority was to invest in her business and build a strong team. Two years ago, Whitney McNell joined the team as a design associate and is now indispensable. McNell’s passion for interior design stems from watching her mother’s thriving practice in Nantucket. Initially, she spent six years working for Leggiadro following her love for color and textiles. After graduating Suffolk University with a degree in business she relocated to Fairfield, CT and started her design career at Ring’s End Color and Design Studio. “McNell is often step ahead of me now when it comes to handling all the vendor and client communications, invoicing and ordering. I am still very involved but my trust in Whitney has grown and I want her to transition into more of a full-time design position and away from administration,” proudly states Bailey.
Most recently, she brought on Jessica Jaffe as a design assistant to handle the vendor relationships, quotes, research and administration like ordering and invoicing. As she doesn’t have any experience in interior design, we want to train her in the process and start with understanding how the backend of a design business functions, build relationships with vendors at the same time be involved with our design process.
Bailey’s vision is to build a strong home brand that is approachable so people can come to them for all their home needs. Prudence Home and Design has a logo and branding refresh and is ready to take on the influx of clients that are moving out of the city to the suburbs. Home is where the heart is!
