Darien Launches New Coronavirus Testing Option For Residents
Everpoint Health will operate the testing facility in at the Leroy West parking site.
DARIEN, CT — Darien is launching a new coronavirus testing option for residents, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson announced, after the town severed ties with Murphy Medical Associates.
Everpoint Health will be utilizing the Leroy West parking site to administer COVID-19 tests. Residents who use the venue will be required to pay for testing services at the time of registration. The operation is private and out-of-network, and according to the Everpoint Health website, a test costs $200. Everpoint Health does not accept insurance nor does it participate in Medicaid or Medicare.
"With the rising number of COVID-19 cases, we felt that we needed to expand access by adding additional testing resources for the residents of Darien," Stevenson said. "This is especially true given the upcoming holidays and the recent departure of Murphy Medical. We need an immediate turnkey solution that will provide our residents with timely service and expanded hours that can function within the limitations of our Leroy West lot. In addition, we also wanted to find an entity that could potentially serve as a future partner in the upcoming COVID 19 vaccination roll out."

Darien ended its arrangement with Murphy Medical this month, following a report in The New York Times of concerns about over billing.
Stevenson emphasized that Darien "has no obligation, financial or otherwise, to Everpoint Health."
