Darien Not Canceling Halloween, Advises Caution In Bad Weather
Wind and rain, heavy at times, are expected this evening.
DARIEN, CT — It may be a bit wet this evening, but Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson hopes local trick-or-treaters still enjoy themselves this Halloween.
Heavy rain, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, is expected throughout the region tonight, but not enough to cancel the annual candy excursion.
Stevenson took to Twitter Thursday to urge parents and guardians to "use good judgement on outdoor trick-or-treating" due to the expected inclement weather.

New Canaan and Westport also are not canceling tonight's activities, and are urging caution.
"If there was a severe storm, we would have called it off," New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan told Patch Thursday morning. He said he spoke with Stevenson before he made a final decision.

In the early evening hours, the rain might be light, but after 8 p.m. the showers and winds will gain momentum, according to forecasters.
Tonight’s weather isn’t ideal for Trick-or-Treating. Be safe. Have a lot of fun!
