DARIEN, CT — The Weed Beach Festive Night scheduled to take place in Darien this weekend has been canceled due to "potential inclement weather," according to town officials.

Jami Gore, program supervisor for the parks and recreation department, said in an email Friday morning the next and final Weed Beach Festive Night will take place Aug. 27, with a rain date scheduled for the following day.

Any attendee that pre-purchased a meal for this weekend's event will still be able to pick up their dinner and have access to the beach Saturday, Gore said. Meals will be served from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Gore said the decision to cancel the event was "difficult and disappointing" and urged residents to "try to stay dry out there" this weekend.

This weekend's Weed Beach Festive Night was originally scheduled to take place Friday evening until town officials announced Thursday the event had been postponed to Saturday due to potential inclement weather.
