The Darien Blue Wave Boys Volleyball team extended their win streak to 30 consecutive regular season games with wins over Stamford and Trumbull this week. Darien won in three sets against Stamford on Monday and Trumbull on Wednesday. The Wave now have eleven wins on the season.
Stamford had a .500 win rate coming into Monday's game at Darien and kept it close part of the time. The Black Knights were one of the better defensive teams The Wave have faced, but only posed a minor threat in the second set when Darien tested some new strategies.
Trumbull had a 9-1 record coming into Wednesday's game and they were the top ranked team in the state until New Canaan handed them their first loss on April 30, but it took New Canaan 5 sets to get the win. Darien players knew that Trumbull would be one of the most difficult challenges of the season. Trumbull proved in the end to be every bit as challenging as Darien expected, but it did not start out that way.

There were a few late game lead changes in the third set and at times it looked like Trumbull might force a fourth set, but Darien prevailed 28-26.
Isaac McMullin and Griffith Crouse did a terrific job of digging out hard hit shots and making passes to one of the top setters in the state, Zarek Swetye. Swetye then set the ball for three of the state's top ranked hitters, Frank Pirone, Luke Bradbury, and Trevor Herget. Trey Davenport loomed large on the net and rejected many of Trumbull's attempted kills. Darien handled everything Trumbull had to offer and maintained their status as the number one ranked team in the state.
The Blue Wave play at Staples on Saturday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. The Wreckers are defending state champions. Darien garnered the runner-up spot in that game.
