DHS Girls Ski Team Headed to States
Blue Wave Ski Racers to compete at Mt. Southington on Monday
On March 3rd, the Darien High School Girls Ski Racing Team faced off in the 4pm first heat of the night against Amity, Cheshire and Danbury. The Wave went 3-0 with 51 high school racers competing in the giant slalom event. Sophomore Morgan Lindell ('23) finished in 1st place overall (46.84) narrowly edging out Amity's Gianna Manuele (47.11) in the two run contest. Blue Wave racers Eliza Spain ('21, captain, 48.31), Ashley Anderson ('22, 48.43), Katherine Lindell ('24, 48.71), Avery Lane ('23, 50.15) and Lauren LaJaunie ('23, 51.82) rounded out the Darien varsity results. After the conclusion of the night's 5pm & 6pm heats, Darien finished 8-3 versus other class L teams. The girls squad finished the regular season with an overall record of 33-22 and qualified for States.
Girls representing Darien at the CISL State Open include: Morgan Lindell ('23), Eliza Spain ('21), Ashley Anderson ('22), Katherine Lindell ('24), Avery Lane ('23), Lauren LaJaunie ('23), Sofia Schimmeck ('24), Angie Dalle Mule ('23), Addison Davis ('22) and Morgan O'Neil ('22). The race will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15 at Mt. Southington in Southington, CT.
The DHS Boys Team (25-35) did not qualify for States but Team Captain Chase Gulick ('21) was selected to participate as an individual due to his overall top 5 state ranking. Congratulations and good luck to all the Blue Wave racers!
