Eversource Begins 2020 Tree Trimming Work In Darien
The work is designed to help reduce power outages.
From Eversource Energy: Working closely with community leaders and tree wardens throughout Connecticut, Eversource’s team of licensed arborists is trimming trees that threaten electric reliability in towns and cities around the state. In Darien, the energy company is investing approximately $500,000 in tree work along more than 30 miles of roadside overhead electric lines.
“While we all love our trees, they can have a devastating effect on the electric system, especially during a storm,” said Eversource Manager of Vegetation Management in Connecticut Alan Carey. “We’re always working to serve our customers better and consistent tree trimming helps to improve day-to-day reliability during all types of weather. As a result, we continue to see fewer power outages where this work has been done.”
Tree work in Darien is being done by Lewis Tree Service and is expected to be complete by late June. Lewis representatives working on behalf of Eversource will be going door to door to distribute information and collect permission slips before proceeding with the work. They will be carrying Eversource identification and will never seek to enter a private residence. As a reminder, there is no cost to the property owner for this work.

In addition, the company reminds customers that homeowners are responsible for tree maintenance on their own property, including keeping branches away from the lower-voltage service wires connecting their homes and businesses to the main utility lines on the street. Eversource strongly recommends contacting a professional tree service to perform this work. A list of state-licensed arborists can be found on the Connecticut Tree Protective Association website.
