First Ox Ridge Squash Open a Total Success!

World-class players competed in Darien at the Squash Doubles Association Tournament

First Ox Ridge Squash Open a Total Success!

DARIEN, CT, January 6, 2020.

Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club (ORC) hosted the inaugural Ox Ridge Open on January 3-6, 2020. The tournament featured some of the top doubles squash players in the world competing for a total purse of $20,000. Funding for this Squash Doubles Association (SDA) tournament was raised through varying levels of sponsorships, members patronage, and member/player participation in a pro-am tournament that paired these top players with the club’s own members. The event was a 501c3 that enabled the club to support local charities.

The weekend culminated with Finals Night on Monday 1/6, for both the professional and pro-am draws. On the professional side, James Bamber/Michael Ferreira from England won the tournament’s first place; with Canadian team Thomas Brinkman/Will Mariani coming in second place. Within the pro-am draw, Cameron Pilley/Mitchell Truwit took first place over Lyell Fuller/Campbell MacColl. Both matches displayed a wonderful level of competition.

The event highlighted the new and beautiful facility that Ox Ridge provides to the families of Fairfield County. As with our highly regarded equestrian shows, notably the iconic ORC June Charity Horse Show featuring some of the best riders in the world, the Ox Ridge Open will take center stage annually as a most prestigious venue for the highest level of competition in the doubles squash world.

Ox Ridge would like to thank all the players, spectators, and corporate tournament sponsors BMW of Darien, Talson Partners, Monhegan Capital Management, First County Bank and the Post Road Group, for the enthusiasm and generosity in supporting this inaugural event.
