Get Your Drink On At These Great Connecticut Bars

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, sometimes you just want a drink. Or a beer. Or a glass of... you get my point. But where should you go? Fortunately in Connecticut, there are a number of great bars to choose from, and the folks at Connecticut Magazine have come with a list to make any imbiber happy.

"From humble watering holes to high-end cocktail lounges, historic jewels to boisterous sports bars," the magazine names more than three dozen wonderful watering holes from around the state in its Raise a Glass to Connecticut's Best Bars. It lists them under such categories as "Good-Drinkin' Bars," "Best for Fun and Games," "Best for Foodies" and "Best to Geek Out About Beer," among others.

For this list, the magazine shied away from brewpubs, breweries and distilleries, not because the writers don't like them, but because they've discussed them separately.

"Ask someone what makes a good bar and you’ll likely get a wide range of answers," writes authors Erik Ofgang, Michael Lee-Murphy, Mike Wollschlager and Albie Yuravich. "So when we set out to identify Connecticut’s best bars, we knew we had to break it down across different categories to appeal to different tastes."
