Gunshots Fired From Moving Vehicle In Darien; Cops Investigating

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. on West Avenue.

DARIEN, CT — Darien police are investigating a Saturday afternoon incident in which someone fired several gunshots from a moving vehicle on West Avenue, according to authorities. As of Saturday night, no injuries have been reported.

The shots were fired just before 5 p.m., and were possibly fired at another vehicle, police said.

Additional details — such as a description of the vehicle and the number of shots fired — were not disclosed, but a significant portion of West Avenue between Leroy and Noroton avenues temporarily were closed well into Saturday night as investigators processed the crime scene.

A heavy police presence was stationed throughout the area, but the road has since been reopened.

"We are confident that there is no threat to area residents at this time," police said.
