Connecticut Weather: Bitter Cold, Possibly More Snow In Forecast
After being clobbered by a massive winter storm we'll see record cold this weekend and there is more snow possible in the forecast.

After Connecticut saw a major winter storm drop up to a foot of snow on the state, the weather is turning dangerously cold this weekend. A Hazardous Weather Outlook and Wind Chill Advisory are in effect until Saturday. The wind chill factor will make it feel as cold as 20 below zero at times. Frostbite could set in within 30 minutes of being outside if the skin is exposed.
Temps will moderate on Monday, but that could also bring snow and possibly sleet to the state Monday night.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "A brutally cold weekend ahead! Be safe!!! Also, dig the snow out from those fire hydrants!" He also said it's important to keep an eye on Monday, which could bring snow and or mix to the state.

Initial forecasts for Thursday's big snowstorm were more conservative on how much snow was expected to accumulate. On social media some people took exception to the fact that the forecasts didn't initially call for as much snow as we got, but the National Weather Service and Connecticut meteorologists always stressed that this was a potent storm and if it tracked just a bit closer to us we could get walloped, which is what happened.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan explains this point.

"9.2" at Bradley Airport from this storm. We got the timing and winds right on but we certainly were playing catch up on the snow totals throughout the storm. A tough one for sure with our early forecasts certainly busting too low! Thank you for watching and for your pictures and reports - we appreciate it!"
FOX 61 Weather said, "Even though tomorrow is likely to be the colder of the next two days, the gusty winds will still be an issue, helping to create a brutal feel to the cold. Sub-zero will easily feel like double digits below zero!"
From Fox 61 Matt Scott "Wind gusts today/Sat at 10-35mph will take cold temps and make them dangerous."
