Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Wood: We have been in the storage industry since 1990 owning Affordable Storage in Norwalk, CT., and discovered that there was a potential need of additional storage for the community in Darien and surrounding towns, so we decided to sell our Norwalk location and build a brand new facility with the amenities and needs of the neighborhood.

Patch: Can you tell us a bit about your business?
Wood: HTSS was designed with sustainable features including a rooftop solar farm that powers virtually all of the facility, along with state-of-the art technology, fully gated and advanced 24-hour surveillance cameras, individual alarms for each unit and an on-site property management team. We also offer 30 different sizes to meet all of the storage needs of our customers no matter how large or small, along with drive-up garage units for car storage, drive in bays, loading dock for business drop shipments and storage, parking for boats, RVs and motorcycles and commuter parking right across Noroton Heights Metro North Station.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger, what would you say?
Wood: It is our goal to build relationships with our customers and community; to be the preferred local partner in self-storage and an asset to the community as we pride ourselves in providing both the best modern state of the art facility and outstanding management team.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Wood: The biggest challenge we encountered at the start of the project was finding the best suitable site for the facility that would be beneficial for our business and the community — we believe we found the perfect property.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Wood: The most satisfying part of the project is being part of the local business community, and to offer the space to all of our local neighbors where they would have the ability for a shorter commute to access their items and have a safe and secure location to be able to store additional valuables whatever it may be and also to provide local businesses additional space for their inventory with easy access and deliveries for their convenience.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Wood: We distinguish ourselves from other facilities, simply by our design! Plus, we have a brand new state-of-the-art building, sustainable, modern architecture and amenities to offer our customers, resident managers and excellent customer service at competitive market prices.
In addition, we are not just a high rise building— we also have ground level drive up door units available. Security is very important and all units are individually alarmed with extended access hours to the facility.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Wood: We are focused in building our brand and reputation and we are excited to be part of this great community!
