At Home In Darien Receives Grant From The Darien Rotary Club

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Rotary Club has awarded a $500 grant to At Home In Darien. The grant will be used to support the mission of helping Darien senior citizens live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own homes and the community.

“At Home In Darien is proud to provide free resources and services to assist the almost 3,000 Darien residents over the age of 60 to live in their homes and the community as they age,” said At Home Executive Director Gina Blum. “We thank the Rotary Club for supporting us and investing in the future of the people we serve.”

At Home In Darien provides seniors with information and advice, referrals to trusted service providers; matches volunteers to help with grocery shopping, home visits, small chores, leaf raking and snow shoveling of public sidewalks; communicates via the Out & About newsletter and a monthly calendar of events and blog; and provides Darien senior residents and disabled with access to half price taxi vouchers and door-to-door transportation to any destination in Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and New Canaan.

The Darien Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, an international service club dedicated to, among many other things, the eradication of polio. The Darien Rotary Club offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors, sponsors local charities and participates in international projects. Meetings are 12:15 to 1:30 on Thursdays.
