NCCS Girls' Ice Hockey Players Receive Tournament Recognition

New Canaan Country school student-athletes drew praise at independent school girls' ice hockey tournament.

New Canaan Country School student-athletes Courtney Edwards of Darien, Sloane Griffiths and Maisy Ricciardelli, both of New Canaan, were named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2020 Upland Country Day Invitational Girls’ Ice Hockey Tournament, held Jan. 24-26 in Kennett Square, PA. The event, which drew independent school teams from surrounding states, is a long-standing tradition for the Pre-K through Grade 9 school.

Head Coach and Upper School Teacher Scott Lilley was pleased with the trio’s well-deserved accolades as well as the entire team’s resilience and tenacity.

“I was impressed with the team's grit, determination and sportsmanship in the face of stiff competition. The team outshot their opponents in 3 of the 4 games played, and scored 20 goals over the course of the tournament.”
