Norwalk Woman Arrested In Double-Fatal Crash On I-95 In Darien

Nineteen-year-olds Chase Ortiz and Victor Emanuel Deleon, both of Norwalk, were killed in the September 2019 crash on I-95.

DARIEN, CT — A 20-year-old Norwalk woman was arrested on a warrant by Connecticut State Police Thursday in connection with a double-fatal crash on I-95 in Darien from September 2019, authorities announced.

The one-car crash, which occurred between exits 9 and 10, killed 19-year-old passengers Chase Ortiz and Victor Emanuel Deleon.

Arrested was the driver, Indira S. Rivera, of North Main Street, who was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of misconduct with a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment
  • Failure to drive in proper lane
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance
  • Possession of a controlled substance/less than half an ounce of marijuana

The crash involved Rivera veering off the thruway and crashing into a tree, according to state police. She suffered serious injuries in the crash, as did passengers Julius C. Beau and Jordan A. Palmer.

Rivera was taken into custody at her home Thursday night and was held in lieu of bail of $250,000. She was scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Friday.
